Credentials & Tenure

Dr. Michael Jones

Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Michael Jones (aka Dr. Mike) attended North Carolina Central University (N.C.C.U.) where he received numerous achievement awards, including The National Dean’s List and an Internship from the North Carolina State Governor’s Office, before graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.

Dr. Mike’s ministry is rooted in academic excellence and spiritual depth. He holds dual Doctorates in Theological Studies and Biblical Studies/Christian Apologetics, alongside a Certificate of Christian Counseling from Logos University. He currently mentors undergraduate and post-graduate students through their rigorous degree programs as an Adjunct Professor.

With a tenure spanning over 41 years at Free Gospel Churches of Christ, he served in high-level leadership as Chairman of the Board of Ministers & Elders and Academic Dean Emeritus of OBICA Bible College. Currently, he serves alongside his wife, Dr. Altheria, as Elders at Abundant Life Christian Church (ALCC) in Lanham, MD.

A prolific author, he has penned over 100 teaching manuals and commentaries on Revelation, the Epistles of John, Jude, and Ephesians, some of which are translated into Spanish to serve a global audience.

Dr. Altheria Washington Jones

A native-born Washingtonian, Dr. AJ holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications Science from Howard University, a Master’s in Education Technology from Gallaudet University, and a Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min) with a concentration in Counseling.

Her professional career includes 30 years as a School Library Media Specialist for Montgomery County Public Schools and serving as the first Director of the George B. Thomas Learning Academy Mentoring Program at John F. Kennedy High School.

In 2011, she broke barriers as one of four women first ordained to ministry at Free Gospel Deliverance Temple Church. As the First Evangelist, she has authored impactful works such as “Is America on Fire?” and “Weep No More, God Has Paid It Forward.”

Beyond her leadership roles as Academic Dean of O.B.I.C.A. and Chairperson for the Young Christian Women’s Auxiliary (Y.C.W.A.), she is known as an ‘Encourager.’ She spends her time visiting hospitals, dialysis centers, and volunteering at pantries, yielding herself as a vessel for those in their most difficult challenges of life.

Dr. Michael's Tenure

Dr. Altheria's Service

Served 35 years as a faithful member of Free Gospel Deliverance Temple in capacities ranging from Academic Dean to Armor-bearer for First Lady Green. She continues as an advocate for children and education.
